Online Communities (faculty, IT, HR, etc.)

A group of IT leaders have been talking about an online forum where UIUC can go to post questions or get answers, similar to Yahoo Answers.  For IT Folks, the CCSP mailing list is another example of where questions can be posted and answered but email is so 1990's and only searchable if you are a member and know about the resource.

The functionality built into this new site (submit a discussion or idea) might be close to what we are thinking about?  I could envision "communities" around faculty, IT, HR, finance, etc.?

 Just an idea....

First of all, I love this idea of "Community Discussions or Idea forum". It develops transparency and gives an opportunity for improvement. I think we can use this for our internal meeting collaboration space as well.

We use SitePublish to host this and several other sites - https://web.uillinois.edu/sitepublish for more information. Feel free to contact me with any questions at trnelson@uillinois.edu.

This could be a potential (small)ITPC project if we get enough interest in setting something up like this for other topics. Would need to have moderators and campaign planners and hosts in order to keep it going though.

That's a great idea, Gabe. For now, maybe we can tag posts with HR, Finance, Student, Research as a way to organize this one community. We are using SitePublish, and AJ and Todd have been great in thinking through it and getting it set up.
